Migrants Take the Coastal Highway From Chiapas and Perform Riots

* They retained a federal official to use him as a change for buses.
* They faced each other for a space in the buses. The National Guard intervenes

Tapachula, Chiapas; November 27, 2021.- This Saturday, about a thousand migrants of different nationalities started riots on the Chiapas Coast, which included the blocking of the road in both directions, and the retention of an official to use him as currency of change to get buses and humanitarian visas. Also, they fighted for an space on the buses.
As a result of the slowness of the National Migration Institute (INM) for giving the document which allows them to travel inside Mexico -without being arrested- until they reach the border with the United States, they have decided to act against the mexican law And because of this, the federal government had to yielded to them.
On the morning of this Saturday, groups of undocumented people who had left the day before from Tapachula and walked in a caravan, stopped on the road section between Huehuetán and Tuzantán, and closed the road, where thousands of trucks buses and particulars pass every day, including those who carry all Mexican exportations to Central America, which was paralyzed.
There, the foreigners were asking for the buses to transport them to many states in Mexico. In the other hand, an official from the National Institute of Migration (INM) asked them to free the roads, because the attention to migrants was already being carried out.
Instead of listening to him, he was retained inside his own vehicle and was used as an alternative way to pressure the government to start sending the buses.
A little bit later, the first bus arrived in the community of Xochiltepec, municipality of Tuzantán, Chiapas, where the events were taking place.
As there was no control of how they would be transportated, the migrants rushed into the unit trying to enter through the small door. By becoming a funnel, they hit each other in order to get one of the 43 available seats.
Fearing that it would end in fatal consequences, the federal government had to sent elements of the National Guard, as well as INM workers to restore the order.
By the time, the authorities sent more than a dozen passenger buses to attend to this claim of sending them to other regions of the country. It is estimated that in Tapachula there are already more than one hundred thousand migrants.
It turned out that the INM official retained was the military brigadier general, Hugo Salvador Cuellar, who was later able to get out of it.
Wilfredo, a migrant from Nicaragua, told the EL ORBE newspaper that they stopped the march because they did not have water, medicine or food, and they decided not to continue walking and closed both roads.
Another group of hundreds of people who entered illegally into the national territory, continued on their way – about 30 kilometers ahead – and have arrived in the municipality of Escuintla on Saturday night, where they planned to rest and restart their route this Sunday.
A similar group also decided to block the road at federal prison No. 15, and because of it an internal security protocol had to be ordered. Although a little bit later the migrants continued their walk and until the closure they continued walking on the coast. .
From Tapachula, three caravans of migrants left this Friday and want the authorities grive them documents, since in Tapachula they have waited months – some of them have waited more tan two years – to regularize their stay and they were not atended.
Around 2,500 migrants travel in the three caravans, mostly young men, adults, pregnant women, teenagers and children. EL ORBE/
