Chaos on the Chiapas Coast Due to Blockades By Undocumented People Demanding «Rights»

Tapachula, Chiapas; November 29, 2021.- The Center for Human Dignification reported that around seven thousand migrants left Tapachula by walking in the last hours and moved to highway sections of the Chiapas Coast, which they blocked.
As a result, thousands of trucks, buses and vehicles had to wait for many hours and also there was a loss of millions of pesos.
The foreigners wanted to pressure the federal government to send them buses for moving to ten states in Mexico, give them visas and comply with a list of their «rights», such as medical service, education, employment, government programs, among others.
It has being a week in which undocumented people have staged demonstrations, made road and street blockades, attacked citizens, detained officials and damaged vehicles, and have paralysed the Chiapas Coast.
The first blockade was near of the Chamulapa bridge, where Haitians fully posted both lanes and one closer to there, both in the municipality of Huehuetán. There were about two thousand people, meanwhile hundreds more were in the Cruz de Oro community.
Foreigners arrived at seven o’clock in the morning to stop the circulation of transport, including the export and import to and from Central America.
Jan, a Haitian migrant, pointed out to the newspaper EL ORBE that when they were in Tapachula, they were suffering a lot because the government did not want to give them their documents so that they could move to the United States.
The blockades lasted for around 6 hours, until a delegation of federal officials arrived to accept the conditions of the migrants and beg them to lift the blockades.
After a while, many buses arrived with hundreds of migrants who had left Tapachula, taking into a count the promise made by the government that they will be moved to other regions of the country. Unfortunately they could not pass because of the blockades by other migrants.
In the other hand, the local population had to walk about 10 kilometers to get out of there and be able to take a vehicle for continue their daily activities, such as going to their jobs.
This Monday was a chaos due to the blockades, since the undocumented people wanted to go all at the same time, without respecting the organization of the Migration authorities.
Once the commitment was made with the officials and the buses began to arrive, the exodus let Chiapas and tourism pass. Although they said they will do the same again in the next hours. EL ORBE
